90. Farewell to Morocco

Well this posting will probably be the shortest one I will ever do ...

With only seven days in Casablanca and a list of six galleries to visit, I knew I would be had pressed to fit it all in ... what I didn't anticipate though was three days of cold driving rain keeping me indoors - then two days confined to my bed with a bad chest infection pumping my system with horrible antibiotics while the sun beamed in through the windows !!! ...

my apartment in centre on top floor ..

not the most spectacular view - but nice and bright ...

On my final day in the city - though still coughing and wheezing and with just enough energy to pull my boots on and stumble out to the lift - I was determined to get outdoors and see something apart from the Hassan II Mosque ... unfortunately the galleries and museum I wanted to visit were closed - it was Sunday - so I opted for the air-conditioned luxury of a long tram ride out through the suburbs to the beach at Plage Ain Diab ...

There's always pleanty to do at a Moroccan beach
- have a game of footy with your mates -
take the kids for a pony ride - or go for a jog with your spouse ...

Or dream of one day moving from the city riad out to a luxury beach-front address ...

then it was back to the city centre for me ...

a brief look in the bazaar ...

and at the old deserted catholic cathedral - now just a roosting place inside for pidgeons
and the occassional exhibition ...

I could have climbed the stairs to the top for a grand view of Casa - but by now my energy level was in the red, and after my final Moroccan coffee, I staggered back home to pack my bags and clean the apartment and psych myself up to move on ...

The next day - feeling better - it was an early start with a car ride out to the airport where my royal jet was waiting to whisk me off to another exotic destination ....

... more soon ...
