165. Lasting Impressions of Edinbugh ...

After only nine short days in Edinburgh it's time to pack my bags, give the apartment a once over, return the keys to my Airbnb host and bus it to the airport for baggage check-in and one last coffee in Scotland before boarding my flight to my next destination ...

But before I head off - here are a few impressions of this great city ...

My top floor apartment in Georgie -
20 minutes by bus from the city centre.

City Scene from Calton Hill ...

The Castle to the left and Princes Street to the right ...

... and that ever-present hill to the west ...

The Castle again - from Greyfriars cemetery ...

Bobby the famous pooch and friend Maisie - who just happened along ...

Greyfiars Bobby was a Skye Terrier who became known in the 19th century Edinburgh for supposedly spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner, until he himself died in 1872.

The trendy Grassmarket cafe strip ...

A Pop-Up art gallery left over from the Festival...

Law courts ...
Rows and rows of Georgian town houses ...
and quaint Victorian terrace houses ...

a pretty slick address ...
the beautifully sunny and painfully green Princes Street Park ...

 another address worth having...

looking across the park from the new city to the old city ...

 another address worth having ...
St Giles Cathedral ...
and inside attending a wonderful concert of Handel arias ...

lunch time at the Oink pork cafe opposite ...

  Scottish National Museum ...

great displays - and full of school kids out on excursion ...

I'll let Dolly the cloned sheep have the final say - baaaaaaaa ... !!!

... and so it's good-bye to the UK and after yet another security check it's onto this big bird and up into the crowded clouded skyways - heading off to a new land and a new city full of new and exciting adventures ... stay tuned ...
