167. Glass and Sport at the Dox

My first gallery to visit during my three week stay in Prague was the Dox Centre for Contemporary Art. This stunning multi-functional space created - thanks to a private initiative - through the reconstruction of a former factory in the Holesovice district of the city.

The Dox mission statement is ... to create a space for research, presentation and debate on important social issues, where the visual arts, literature, performing arts and other disciplines encourage a critical view of the so-called reality of today's world ...

" ... today when more and more people tend to think dangerously alike,
art's capacity to suspend, even for a moment, our habitual ways of seeing
maybe its greatest value ... "

The Dox was a super gallery with two very interesting exhibitions - especially the glass - I hope my photgraphy did them both justice.

My next blog will feature one of my favourite wandering pastimes - visiting a place usually void of tourists - and on what better a day to visit than when the heavens are grey and overcast and damp - stay tuned ...
