217. The Tourist does Art #7 ...

Sarajevo is a city of many architectural varieties that have sprung up over the centuries as the metropolis grows in size under the different cultures that have settled here. And my artpiece for my stay here reflects just that.

Taking-in the view from my apartment window of the residential hill behind me and using a 1905 image of the city as my inspiration, and recycled cardboard from the local shop plus a copy of the city newspaper, I have put together this little "rescued-assemblage-cameo" ...

Sarajevo 2017

For the frame and structure I recycled a cardboard box from the local shop then I covered the structure with strips of newspaper - and the scrolls likewise. Then over the newspaper I roughly layered white tracing paper to give the effect of falling snow ...

I was happy to leave the work behind in Sarajevo as a parting gift to my Airbnb host Amra. Perhaps future visitors to Sarajevo who stay in Amra's apartment may get to see the piece up close ...

And my time here is almost up - where has the past three weeks gone he asks - so in my next blog post I'll share a few impressions of this interesting city with you before I head off to my next destination ...
