Ken Munsie: 239. Farewell to Varna ...

Yep ... it's time again for me move on ... been here in Varna for just two short weeks, both of which have flown past at the speed of lightning ... it's been a bit of a "art" rest for me ( well except for climbing close to 3000 steps to look at some wonderful Brutalist art ... !!! ... ). Have enjoyed being on the coast, even though the weather has not been warm enough for a swim in the ocean - however I did put my finger in the water just so as I can say that I have been in the Black Sea ...

Varna is a very attractive city - plenty of busy activity but at the same time keeping a peaceful pace without the roar of most cities. It is a busy commerce port linking the country with the rest of the trading world and also the the Bulgarian Naval port ( there was plenty of evidence of that in the harbour, but I thought it probably prudent not to be seen taking pics of naval vessels ... ).

is the beautiful Sea Garden - trees just coming into bud

... about the best thing to do with noisy motorbikes

is make a fence around a night club ...

Then there are the beaches and the Black Sea ...

at just 12 degrees in the sunshine - no sun-bathers nor swimmers today

not even the odd ice-berger - just a few fellas playing beach soccer

and the beach-side cafes and bars also pretty deserted - even on a Saturday arvo ...
but come summer, and these places will be packed to their rafters ...
