... standing 350mm high x 250mm wide x 120mm deep
and weighting as light as a feather ...
The structure is made from recycled cardboard - then covered with strips of very thick industrial paper. The piece has been painted with sepia coloured ink and lightly rubbed back with a matt-finish furniture polish to give it an antique appearance. ( ... It's amazing what art materials one can find in a skip bin out in the street and in the cupboard under the kitchen sink ... ).

The internal walls of the portico and the scrolls are stips of torn paper from a secret Italian book.
The top is covered with the same thick paper as the wall covering - and I have woven it to give the effect of roofing tiles.
The forgotten secrets tightly rolled up and tied with the black thread of memory and stored in boxes in the cavities of the mind ...

NEWSFLASH ...
And the great news is that today I have had my Catania travel-piece accepted into the permanent collection of artworks of the Museo Arte Contemporanea Sicilia ( Museum of Contemporary Art Sicily ) ( http://www.museomacs.it/en/index.asp ) ... I featured the Museum in my blog #259.
The collection features 130 artists of all genre from around the globe - and now they have an Australian artist in their midst - #131 ( all stand please while I sing the National Anthem ... ) ...
