122. A Day in Ljubljana

I packed a lot into my one day in beautiful Ljubljana - including two museums, a alternative cultural centre, a good look around the city ... as well as lunch and a couple of coffees - and a major thunderstorm that caught everyone unawares and scurrying for shelter ...  ...

Like most European cities there is the old and the new cities - here the old city has been developed as a major tourist drawcard, with most of the cobbled streets closed off to normal vehicular traffic and turned over to the hordes of hungry tourists that will descend shortly ...

And through its centre runs the Ljubjlanica canal.

 The Triple Bridge ...

 The Triple Bridge again ...

One of many cafes along the canal ...

The Butcher's Bridge - with love message padlocks ...

 Cafe under the bridge ..

Walking around the city I was amazed by the number of sculptures - many adorning public and apartment buildings - others on street corners or in parks ... most though have no details as to who or what they are ... but it gives the place a great creative feel ...

Cathedral of Saint Nicholas ...

 Side door ...

Another great idea - do away with parking meters
and replace them with auto charging units ...

How neat is this ...

Clever promotion ...

One last look at the canal ..

Then it's into the mini-chariot and a dash across the countryside
and onto my next adventure ...

Stay tuned ...
