191. The Tourist Does Art #3

Visiting all these art galleries, museums and various other cultural hot-spots, really inspires and stirs up the creative juices in my mind, so the first things I do when I land in a new city is set-up a work-space in my apartment, seek out the local art shop and maybe flea market of bric-a-brac shop for supplies and then put my fingers to work ...

And during my three weeks stay in Budapest I worked overtime putting together my #3 piece - ... and the perfect studio work-space at number 93 Vaci ut was the disused / but very practical cocktail cabinet ... !!! ...

... and here is result of many hours of labour ... "Hidden Stories and Lost Words" ...

... the structure is made with recycled cardboard ( courtesy of the local supermarket ) and covered with paper out of a 1920s Hungarian novel found at a local flea market ... strips are cut for the roofs, wider strips for the scrolls are rolled up and tied ( approx 250 of them ... ) and the walls are covered with dots of paper made with an office hole puncher thingo ... the piece is 250mm high by 210mm square - and weighs next to nothing ...

Inspiration maybe from visiting all those Baroque churches along the way ... !!! ...

My previous piece #2 - " What would Freud make of all these scrolls ... " - put together during my stay in Vienna is now with my Hungarian host Daniella - ( whose husband is a medical doctor ) and who was very amused by the artwork ... and I'm hoping to also find a good home for this little cluster of houses somewhere along the way ...

Now to get on with #4 ... no time for idle fingers with this tourist ...
