289. Who can resist a Teapot Show ...

Yes my time was up and my "Senior's Gap Year" had suddenly come to an end - so packing my bags and sadly leaving Sofia behind I winged it to Rome then to Dubai and finally to Sydney - arriving in my very favourite city of all time at 5am on Friday ... left Sofia in 30 degrees heat and arrived Sydney in 10 degrees chill ... !!! ...

... the magnificent QANTAS A380 ...
... amazing to look at on the outside -
but crammed in like an over-sized tin of sardines on the inside ...

... after 32 hours in transit - 22 hours in the air and 10 sitting around airport lounges -
arriving in the best city on the planet was a real joy to this wanderer ...

... and now for a few days of R&R at Kings Cross ...

... just to get my head around being back in the land of Oz
and my lungs back functioning on Southern Hemisphere air ...

And of course there is lots to see and do during my stay in Sydney -
and to start off I couldn't resist visiting a teapot show ...

The Sydney Teapot Show

After running for 29 years at the Glebe Clayworkers, the 30th show has now moved to the well-established Kerrie Lowe Gallery in King Street, Newtown - and runs until 17 September.

Teapots teapots and more teapots - some functioning, others comical and intriguing - all are hand-made ceramics from potter from around Australia, plus a few flown in from overseas. The pots were judged in three catagories and handsome prizes awarded by generous sponsors ...

Here is just a glimpse of some of the pieces on show ... enjoy ...
