… being on the go for 12 months almost to the day …
… traveling approx 47,000 air and land kilometres …
… on 16 flights with 10 different airlines …
… also enjoying 6 bus journeys …
… and 9 train journeys …
… visiting 13 different countries …
… and staying in 20 AirBNB apartments …
… plus one night in a hotel …
… walking countless kilometres over cobblestones, up and own hundreds of stairs,
sloshing through snow and over ice and not to mention the distances traveled on
suburban trains, trams, buses and cablecars -
...all to visit a grand total of 183 "sights" …
… phew …
and so after a few days in sunny Sydney catching up with family and friends and visiting some of my favourite arty sites like the Museum of Contemporary Art and the NSW Art Gallery ( just to name a couple ... ), HOME CALLS and it was back to the airport and a quick flight to Brisbane and then back to the very best place on earth ... Maleny, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia ...
yep - after millions of years in the making
the Glasshouse Mountains are still there
welcoming me home ...
Thank you to all of you who have followed me as I wandered through such exciting places in Central and Eastern and Southern Europe - it's been a wonderfully exciting year for me visiting such exotic cities - not once did I feel unwelcome nor in danger anywhere ( ... quite the contrary ... ) + I had no accidents + no muggings nor thefts + and only two days out of 365 laid low with a stomach bug ... pretty amazing - and for that good fortune I have to thank my two traveling companions - my talismans - a 1947 ( my year ) penny and a splinter of marble I found at the ruined Temple of Zeus in Athens ... ( ... thank you Father Zeus for your protection ... I shall return the item at another time... )
... and it's super to be home among familiar surroundings
and back in the arms of great friends and family ...
